WAHL MAINTAINS COMMITMENT TO RETAILERS
- Company expands product portfolio across several categories to help boost sales -

STERLING, ILL. (September 30, 2011) –When Wahl introduced the world’s first lithium ion trimmer a few years ago, the goal was to spark growth in an otherwise flat category.  The result was a complete ‘recharge’ to the tune of double-digit category growth and more than 100 percent product sales growth.  Now, the company that helped pioneer the men’s grooming and personal care categories is extending this innovation platform to include a complete lineup of lithium ion infused grooming tools.
“Based on the success of our Lithium Ion Trimmer, we knew we had the foundation for something big,” said Bruce Kramer, vice president of consumer sales and marketing, North America for Wahl Clipper Corporation. 
By extending its lithium ion technology to new products, Wahl is ensuring that the most technologically advanced rechargeable battery available now covers virtually every grooming need from facial hair and detail trimming to shaving and home haircutting.  In addition to the Lithium Ion Trimmer, the complete line includes the new Triple Play Lithium Ion 3-in-1 Shaver and Trimming System, Triple Play +, Lithium Ion + Stainless Steel Trimmer and Lithium Ion Clipper Kit.  Each offers the benefits of more power, longer run time and quicker charging for one-time use over standard models.  Wahl also recently introduced the Lithium Pen Trimmer, a powerful detailer featuring a lithium-cell battery that offers years of use before needing to be replaced. 
The combination of lithium ion technology and other Wahl product features such as finely ground blades is what enables these products to deliver what Kramer describes as a better grooming experience. 
“In today’s economy, consumers are looking for a quality product and the reassurance that what they buy will meet their expectations,” said Kramer.  “With the advent of our lithium ion products, we are able to not only meet the consumer’s expectation for performance, but exceed their expectations for convenience.” 
While the new lineup of Wahl Lithium Ion products is already appearing on store shelves, the development did not happen overnight.  Wahl engineers spent nearly two years applying their proprietary lithium ion technology to these products with a goal of maximizing performance beyond just battery life.  Kramer believes the company’s patience in product development proved pivotal. 
“By taking the time to perfect our lithium ion technology and design our products accordingly, we’ve created a win-win for everyone-- higher end, premium level products consumers want and up-sell opportunities retailers need.” 
In addition to lithium ion clipping and grooming products, Wahl continues to innovate in other areas, as well.
The company’s lineup of hand-held massagers features the new Deep Tissue Percussion Massager, Heat Therapy Massager and Mini-Wand Massager, which supports a new pain management positioning that, has led to triple-digit sales growth over the past year in an otherwise depressed category. 
Wahl also has expanded its home pet products, starting with a full line of natural pet shampoos designed to meet the needs of today’s more discerning consumers.  The complete line includes the new natural shampoos, pet clipper kits, trimmer kits and popular grooming tools such as a shedding brush, slicker brush and soft brush and nail cutters.  Kramer expects the more complete lineup to help Wahl continue its unprecedented sales growth in this category while also better positioning the company long term.
