--New products cater to growing market of consumers looking to take control of personal care--
STERLING, ILL. (March 10, 2012) –As more and more consumers turn to DIY for everything from home improvement to health, Wahl is doing its part to ensure the concept hits home on a personal level. The company’s personal care products lineup now includes the latest in lithium ion grooming, pain management and home pet care, helping to build upon a 90-year legacy of empowering consumers and professionals alike.
According to a recent consumer survey from JP Morgan, the DIY approach will be dominant theme for consumers this year, and personal care is no exception. When it comes to personal health and appearance, the majority of consumers are opting to take matters into their own hands.
With a product mix representing men’s grooming, home haircutting, home pet care and pain management, some would say that DIY is just part of Wahl’s DNA.
“Our products are about adding convenience and helping people save money—things that never go out of style,” said Steve Yde, marketing director for Wahl. “Whether out of necessity or convenience, it’s clear that today’s consumer is taking more control. Our focus is on ensuring the experience matches or exceeds their expectations.”
To help consumers in the grooming department, Wahl has taken its industry-leading rechargeable battery to the next level, starting with the Lithium Ion + Stainless Steel Trimmer. On the outside, this men’s facial hair trimmer appears clean and contemporary. On the inside, it’s a brute, offering up to four times the run time and two times the power of standard single cell NiMh shavers. Together with the new Microgroomsman Lithium-powered personal trimmer, Wahl’s new additions are helping to meet the evolving demands of guys in a growth category that shows no signs of slowing.
Wahl’s Lithium Ion Family of products also includes the Lithium Ion Clipper, the most advanced home haircutting tool on the market. Catering to today’s on-the-go and on-demand lifestyles, it offers unmatched power plus the freedom of anywhere use thanks to cordless operation and the ability to deliver twice the run time of standard clippers. The higher-end design and performance has allowed the Lithium Ion Clipper to command a new premium position in the market. The product debuted in September 2011 and has since earned broad distribution.
For the growing segment of consumers seeking a true multi-purpose grooming device, Wahl introduces the hybrid-style PowerPro Groomer. The most compact facial hair trimmer and hair clippers combo available, PowerPro allows for haircuts, facial hair trimming and detailing. Unlike many multi-purpose grooming devices on the market, PowerPro’s unmatched combination of size, power and durability ensures optimum performance for each task. The product rolls out this spring.
In addition, Wahl has expanded its home pet products to meet the needs of the fast-growing home pet grooming market. Recent additions to the line include a series of Natural Pet Shampoos that are specially formulated using 100-percent plant-derived ingredients, as well as the cordless Deluxe Pro Series Pet Clipper. Given retailer interest, Wahl expects its complete line of shampoos, pet clipper kits, trimmer kits and other grooming tools to help the company continue to grow the category while providing consumers and retailers with a one-stop shop for pet grooming.
Wahl also is addressing the growing number of consumers living active lifestyles as well as the 76 million people suffering from chronic pain. The company’s new pain management focus includes a lineup of hand-held massagers that features the Deep Tissue Percussion Massager and Heat Therapy Massager. Highlights include powerful motors, variable intensity control and custom attachments for all-around and targeted relief. Given recent studies—and buzz--on the benefits of massage, Wahl expects the new products to build on the line’s triple-digit sales growth over the past year.
